"Although she is billed as a megastar, the cultural elite have turned up their noses at her bakya crowd following. In Manila's elitist society, the bakya crowd is defined as the common masses. But, it is also this crowd which has spent millions on Sharon Cuneta films, records, and compact discs; kept her weekly television show a long-running toprater; and bestowed on her the megastar billing."

The TV Baby

Speaking of Sharon:
"Sharon and I share the same passion for food. In fact, we became friends over Mango Jubilee the favorite dessert we'd share over 'bonding time' while we were still getting to know each other.

"I met her when we both guested in Gary V.'s major launch at the Araneta Coliseum in '84. She was the cutest thing that walked in the backstage dressing room with a Cabbage Patch doll in her arms! She was already on her way to mega superstardom and yet was the most down-to-earth person in the room. I froze when she came up to me and started chatting. We hit it off immediately! She was adorable, smart, and definitely not mayahang! And just like millions of Filipinos worldwide who would come to love her, I became smitten. That day, I too became a true blue, certified Sharonian.

"For what is there not to love about Shawie? She is beautiful inside out. Throughout her 25 years, she has selflessly allowed us to grow with her and experience life's many lessons.

"As a friend, she is fiercely loyal, supportive, nurturing, and never judgmental.

"We could all identify with Sharon. Like the heroines she plays in her movies, she's a woman of substance, with strong family values, a hard worker, and survivor. A hero and role model to Filipino women. We all aspire to be like Mega. When I grow up, I want to be just like her. :-)"
- Zsazsa Padilla
Co- host, GMA Supershow

"Sharon is in a class all by herself, on top of the entertainment world. She sings, acts, dances, hosts . . . she writes well and composes beautiful songs, and has business savvy as well. She's just so good at everything she does, truly a star, the Megastar! And the best thing about Shawie is that she's a fine, wonderful human being. I love her dearly."
- Bert de Leon
Director, The Sharon Cuneta Show, 1986-1997

The Commercial Queen

"My background is something I'll always be grateful for. It has given people a 'set of standards' to automatically go by when they deal with me, in terms of how far they could go in their demands, I guess it all boils down to this: When you're pretty decent to begin with, it takes really no effort at all to stay decent! Even when you have to deal with people who aren't."
