SHARON EXCITED ABOUT COMEBACK MOVIE
By Ricky Calderon, ABS-CBN News.com, October 16, 2001
Megastar Sharon Cuneta is busy filming
Pagdating ng Panahon, her
reunion movie with Robin Padilla. Directed by Joyce Bernal, the movie is
Viva Films' 20th anniversary presentation and will be shown on November
28.
This is Sharon's first movie in
two years and her first since giving birth to her daughter Frankie last
December. Understandably, the megastar is very much excited to be back at
work, especially since Pagdating ng
Panahon reunites her with Robin, one of
her favorite leading men.
'I'm
really excited to be working in front of the movie camera again but I just
wish I had a little more time to lose more weight, said the megastar at a
recent interview. 'It's also wonderful to be making my comeback movie with
Robin, since it's been eight years since our last film together. Our
movies have a special quality which makes them fun and entertaining. This
one is also going to be light and fun,' added Sharon.
Even if she and Robin haven't worked together in years,
Sharon said they haven't lost that uncanny connection they've always had
working together. The chemistry that fueled their previous pairings is
evident in the early rushes, and their working relationship is better than
ever. Sharon is also excited to be working with costars Amy Austria,
Marissa Delgado and Baby O'Brien, to name just a few in the supporting
cast.
"As an actress, it's great to
be working again. I have missed this aspect of my show business career so
much,' said Sharon, who even had to advance several episodes of her
eponymous talk show on ABS-CBN so that she could devote more time to her
comeback film. She even informed Viva that she's willing to give up some
of her Sundays so the movie could be finished in time for its scheduled
playdate.
How is it like working
with a new director like Joyce Bernal?
'Ang sarap, she's like a barkada. As professional
artists, we look up to authority and on the set, the director is it. Even
if she makes everyone feel like a barkada, we all look up to
Joyce. The director is the captain of the ship. I respect our director.
She's very easygoing but also very professional. I like her pace. It's
relaxed but not slow, and she really knows what she's doing. I think it's
an asset that she's also a film editor, since she can already edit the
sequences in her head while the production is in progress. Beyond these
qualities, I'm also impressed with her attention to details, like in the
dialogue and the nuances in movement,' Sharon said.
