Lea Salterio EVEN after making nine movies with Christopher de Leon, megastar Sharon Cuneta confesses she still gets star-struck every time she works with the award-winning actor.

They first worked together in "Bituing Walang Ningning," where Boyet played Sharon's leading man, Nico, who discovered her and made her a singing superstar.

Boyet also made a special guest appearance in the Sharon starrer, "Bukas Luluhod ang mga Tala."

"Up to this day, whenever I look at Boyet, he still looks the same as when he played Nico," Sharon says. "He doesn't seem to age. We're so comfortable working together.

"But even after working with him for a long time, I remain a Boyet fan. I couldn't believe that he was just someone I used to watch and admire. The first Tagalog movie I watched was 'Kasal,' which starred Boyet and Hilda Koronel."

Sharon and Boyet are paired again in "Magkapatid," Viva Films' official entry in the Manila Film Festival that reels off June 12. Boyet plays Sharon's husband who leaves her after their son dies.

"Boyet is my male idol as Vilma (Santos) is my female idol," Sharon says.

In "Magkapatid," she also stars with young actress Judy Ann Santos for the first time.

Sharon plays a doctor and elder sister to Judy Ann, whom she loves so much. Judy Ann gets married at a young age to a jobless Dingdong Dantes, and always runs to Sharon for help. A tragedy brings the sisters apart.

"In most of my movies, I always played the quiet, underdog character," Sharon says. "But here, I'm a bit hysterical. It's a welcome change and I think the fans will like it."

"Magkapatid" director Joel Lamangan says Sharon has a number of dramatic highlights in the movie.

"I do not think of awards when I make movies," Sharon says, referring to predictions of awards for her performance in the new movie. "Bonus na lang 'yon for me. I just do my best because I want the audience to be satisfied. I also want my movies to make money. That's what's important in the industry today. We need good movies that will make money."
