SHARON-KIKO MARRIAGE STRONG AS EVER
by Ethel Ramos, Malaya, July 23, 2003

'There's not a trace at all that Sharon and Kiko are having problems in their marriage, as what's being alleged in some reports.'

SHARON Cuneta and Senator Kiko Pangilinan were the picture of a happy couple while having their picture taken together with their daughters KC and Frankie by top-rate photographer Jun de Leon at his studio at the Trader's Hotel in Roxas Boulevard, Manila. There's not a trace at all that Sharon and Kiko are having problems in their marriage, as what's being alleged in some reports. No wonder, Sharon has chosen to ignore the rumors.

Frankie, at her age (she's turning three in December) is an extra precocious child. If she was not running all over the place, she was singing the popular Broadway song, "Tomorrow," with mom Sharon. Fanny Serrano, who, to date, remains Sharon's favorite make-up artist, was helping interpret it through gestures.

When Sharon called Frankie aside and asked her to kiss my right hand, she did so gleefully.

Senator Kiko, before facing the camera, called Frankie, too. The little girl was running all over the room with her elder sister KC.

Like an obedient child, Frankie approached her dad. I gave way to a loud guffaw when Senator Kiko instructed her to kiss my hand and she immediately blurted, "Tapos na."

Earlier, Sharon had her picture taken, also by Jun de Leon, with Aga Muhlach and the other members of the cast of "Kung Ako Na Lang Sana," like Tintin Bersola, Jennifer Sevilla, Mickey Ferriols and Dominic Ochoa.

The film, produced by Star Cinema and directed by Joey Javier Reyes, has an early September playdate. But since both Sharon and Aga are leaving for abroad and are coming back in August, Roxy Loquigan and JD Ching, head of Star Cinema's promotions and publicity department, decided to schedule a pictorial for the film's publicity this July.

As is common knowledge, Sharon is accompanying daughter KC to Paris, France, where the latter has decided to pursue her college studies. Aga is performing at a concert with Vina Morales and Carlos Agassi in Chicago (July 26), San Francisco (August 1) and Los Angeles (August 2).

Aga is leaving with his family, Charlene Gonzales and their twins, Atasha and Andres. Accompanying them too, are Aga's mom, Anita Aquino and Charlene's mom, Elvie Gonzales. They are also bringing the nannies of the twins, Elsie Fernandez and Joan Giray.

"I'll miss the company," Tintin Bersola, who is playing Sharon's best friend in "Kung Ako Na Lang Sana," sighed. "Ay naku, enjoy talaga ako habang ginagawa ko ang movie na ito. Kung sabagay, all of us had an enjoyable time doing the movie. Talagang gugustuhin mo na 'di pa matapos ang shooting."

"Kung Ako Na Lang Sana" is about a group of college friends who have remained close to one another through the years even after they've pursued their varied interests.

"In every character in 'Kung Ako Na Lang Sana,' the audience will surely find someone to identify with. Halimbawa, ako 'yung tipo ng taong 'di na yata mawalan-walan ng problema," said Jennifer. "And I run to my barkada always to pour out my problem, at sila naman, dahil kagrupo ako, they lend me an ear."

How about Sharon and Aga? What are their roles?

"Ay naku, exciting ang role nila sa pelikula," Dominic, who is Aga's best friend in the movie, shared. "Talagang nakakakilig, kahit pa sabihing they are not trying to be cute."

"Basta feeling ko, the roles assigned to each of us were tailor-made for us," Mickey cut in. "Like, for example, the role I have. Ako 'yung intelihenteng babae who falls for Aga deeply. Pero mare-realize ko that to prove your love to someone, you have to let him go when you feel he wants his freedom."

Direk Joey, who was once a college professor, wrote the story and script of "Kung Ako Na Lang Sana."
