Babies no more, Karylle, Alyssa Gibbs and Kristina Cassandra "KC" Concepcion and their proud celebrity mothers shared on ABS-CBN Channel 2's program Sharon on Sunday the joys and rewards of being tandems off-camera.
"She has a regular weekly allowance but actually it's very limited," Sharon said of her and KC's arrangement. Sharon proudly shared that KC is not a spendthrift. She even said KC still asks for money for her other needs, even if her daughter by erstwhile husband Gabby Concepcion is already earning a considerable amount of money. "When she needs extras, it's still on me," Sharon said. KC was reportedly paid P5 million for endorsing the Human line of clothing. When asked how much she was getting for her daily allowance, young Alyssa, daughter of actor Janno Gibbs and actress-singer Bing, quipped "Ten pesos!" Karylle, Zsa-Zsa's daughter by estranged husband, dentist Modesto Tatlonghari, said she does not mind the curfews imposed on her. "I keep in touch through the phone," Karylle said. Twenty-year-old Karylle, who, like KC, starred as Princess Sapphire in Trumpets Productions' Little Mermaid, pointed out that she is allowed to go out with her friends, but, as things turned out, she has too little time for that. Alyssa, who is the youngest of the three celebrity daughters featured in the show, said she usually hangs out with her best friend at the coffee bar Starbucks, but quickly added that there has to be someone looking after them when they go out. "There were a couple of times when my dad got mad at me for coming home a bit late, but my mom was cool because she knew that I'm with my best friend and her mom, so there's somebody to watch over us," she said. KC said she learned that following the curfew is more about respect and self-control, than just obeying house rules. "I think the curfew does not only depend on who you're with or where you go. I think it's about security. Even if you have a phone through which your parents can call you anytime, it's also about discipline," KC said. Shopping is one hobby that the mothers and daughters easily related to, as growing ladies. Although, surprisingly, the young ones said that they enjoyed the experience of shopping in the company of their busy moms more than doing the act of buying things itself. "Since you rarely go out, it's seldom that we shop together, but I like it when we shop together," KC told her mother, Sharon, the host of the show. "We sometimes buy a lot of stuff, but there's always a limit, that's why I'm not like 'oh shopping!' I mean it's nice to shop, but I also get bored in the mall," KC explained. Karylle said she is not a "quick" shopper, unlike her mom. "I scour the shops for the clothes that I like, and try each one that I pick, unlike my mom, who knows what she wants and picks up whatever she likes right away," she said. There was no show-stopping, tear-shedding moment on the show, but the celebrity mothers and daughters nevertheless wore their hearts on their sleeves when asked about the touchy topic of having relationship with guys. "My mom said she would bang her head on the wall and go to a church and kneel with her messed-up hair, so the parents of the guy would think that she's crazy and be turned off," Karylle said of Zsa-Zsa's off-the-cuff reaction when they talked about the subject. "We'll have him jailed," Sharon joked about what KC's stepfather Senator Francis Pangilinan said they would do when a guy asked for her hand. "I think you can really see if the person is mature enough or if he's only doing it for some other reason, for the wrong reasons," KC said. She said she could not see herself marrying until she is about 28 years old. To which Sharon quickly replied, "you're not dating until you're 35."
