KC DOES SHARON 'MEGA' PROUD

Megastar Sharon Cuneta should better get used to being upstaged by her sensational daughter Kristina Cassandra "KC" Concepcion.

Just like her recent launch as the image model of the alternative fashion label Human, KC's stage debut Thursday night was a phenomenal affair, what with practically the entire Metro Manila turning up at Meralco Theater to catch the special preview of Trumpets' Little Mermaid.

KC, who is playing Princess Sapphire in the restaging of the well-loved musicale, unsurprisingly stole the show from ABS-CBN talent Carol Banawa who plays the female lead Jewel.

Sharon's 16-year-old daughter with former husband, erstwhile actor Gabby Concepcion, shone bright as she sang and acted the part that also launched actress-singer Zsa-Zsa Padilla's daughter Karylle last year.

"We should really be proud of the Filipino talent. But that KC is outstanding. Really, tonight a star was born. You guys get ready for this young lady," said comedian Bernardo Bernardo who was one of the celebrities in the audience.

Mega Proud

Sharon, who came with husband Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan and mother Elaine Cuneta, was overcome with emotion while watching her daughter's performance.

She said that seeing KC shine all on her own was the moment she had been waiting for. She added that realizing her daughter has grown up wonderfully makes her the proudest parent.

"I'm proud of her. I'm just overwhelmed. She's doing such a great job," she said.

Pangilinan, whom KC considers her real father, said he feels honored being part of his stepdaughter's life. "I nearly cried out of joy," he said.

By all indications, KC is this year's biggest and most awaited star.

Bursting the bubble of showbizlandia and the advertising world, Sharon insisted that KC's academic life after Little Mermaid is non-negotiable. "I think that's why she's turned out the way she has. It's because of certain facts, certain realities. We've taught her what to prioritize," Sharon said.
