ABS-CBN News.com, July 6, 2001

It was a "baptism of fire" for Kristina Cassandra Concepcion when she finally exposed herself to the public, giving statements on record and the usual smiles and few grins she throw on camera.

During a rehearsal of the P10 million production of The Little Mermaid, where KC plays the role of Princess Sapphire, reporters watched her every move.

With her ingress in the entertainment industry, KC not only shared her theater endeavor but also the more homey topic of her happy family.

In an interview with TV Patrol reporter Mario Dumaual, the 16-year-old daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta shared how it feels to be a senator's daughter to adoptive father Francis Pangilinan.

"I'm looking forward to being a senator's daughter in the next six years," KC said during a break in the play's hectic rehearsals.

As much as Sharon wanted to hide her from too much media scrutiny, KC is set to create her own niche in the entertainment world.

Unlike her celebrity parents, who made a name for themselves in show biz, KC maintained she wants to try out the oftentimes regarded high-brow art of theater acting.

The sweet crooner and natural actress in her is bent on giving her best shot in the theatrical world.

KC raised a lot of eyebrows when she earned a huge P5 million talent fee from posing as image model for alternative clothing line Human.

Professional models in the industry teased that KC could now lead an independent life with the amount. Of course, she doesn't need it.

Despite the glare of spotlight thrown on KC, her co-stars in Little Mermaid said she never hinted a liking for any special treatment.

They appreciated KC's low profile image even if she has the show biz genes.

Show biz observers said KC's participation in the extravagant Trumpet's production ensures huge earnings. They said that KC will surely draw hordes of curious kibitzers.

The musicale will be restaged at the Meralco Theater in August.
