On April 24, after a visit to her OB-GYN, Sharon was confirmed to be pregnant!!! After having 2 disappointing experiences, Sharon is now taking extra precautions to insure the baby's safety and normal development. Sharon requests your deep, constant and loving prayers from this day on for the safety and good health of her baby. PHILSTAR (April 29) - Even now that she's five weeks pregnant, Sharon Cuneta might not keep her promise to temporarily quit showbiz during her infanticipation, but she'll definitely slow down. But then again since she usually has "delicate" pregnancies, if Sharon is advised by her doctor to stay in bed, she just might take a leave of absence from her self titled ABS-CBN show. |
Cuneta's husband, Atty. Francis "Kiko" Pangalinan, excitedly shared the much awaited news in an interview on ABS-CBN news program TV Patrol.
"Buntis na siya. Nalaman namin nung last Monday," Francis said.
(She's pregnant. We found out last Monday.)
The would be first-time father said they wanted to keep Sharon's delicate condition in a hush for some time ñ just between him, the expectant mother, and stepdaughter KC - but their excitement got the better of them.
"Kung maaari, huwag munang i-announce dahil may mga dagdag na pressure. Kahit magulang namin kasi hindi pa alam eh. Kahit mga kapatid ko hindi pa alam. Tapos lumabas sa diyaryo," Francis said.
(As much as possible, we didn't want to announce it yet because there would be added pressure. Even our parents didn't know about it. Neither did my siblings. Then it came out in the newspaper.)
Sharon has long been wanting to give KC, her 15-year-old daughter by her first husband, actor Gabby Concepcion, a baby brother, a little sister, and as many more siblings as possible.
Unfortunately, her first two pregnancies by Francis resulted in traumatic miscarriages.
One good thing came out of such painful experiences, though. They intensified Sharon's desire to have a baby, that she has finally resolved to lose the "excess baggage" that also proved critical for her professionally.
After five months of sashaying around tinseltown with an impressively trimmer figure, Sharon landed on the cover of all fashion magazines, garbed in her sexiest collection of haute couture.
And now, Her Mega Gorgoeusness is one month on the way.
It is Francis' fervent wish that they hit the jackpot this time around. He stressed that his wife would have to sacrifice a great deal of her showbiz activities to ensure a successful pregnancy.
"Kung meron man siyang ime-maintain, kung meron man . . . siguro yung TV show lang. Wala nang concerts, walang pelikula. Walang out-of-town trips," he said.
[If she has to maintain one thing, perhaps it would be the TV show. No more concerts, movies, and out-of-town trips.]
Meanwhile, Kiko is amused that Sharon has developed a strange fondness in the most interesting stage of her pregnancy.
"Lagi akong hinahanap eh. Tuwing gabi, inaamoy ako. Oo, walang tigil na inaamoy ako . . . sa batok, sa likod. Sabi ko nga sa kanya eh . . . 'Aba, ba't panay ang amoy mo sa'kin? Buti na lang mabango ako!' he said.
[She always looks for me. Every night, she sniffs me. Really, and non-stop . . . at my nape, my back. I told her, hey, why do you keep sniffing me. Good thing I smell good.]
